Movement & Neuroscience Nugget: Visual Resets for a calmer mind and happier body

Did you know that giving your eyes a break from staring at close things like our phones or computers can lower stress AND give us better flexibility, range of movement or better performance? It’s SOOOO worthwhile right? Yet it’s not yet common place to think about how staring at these gadgets is compromising us is terms of mental and physical wellbeing. To test whether it’s helping to lower your brain’s threat level simply test something you’d like to get better at like a forward fold. Try doing the visual reset for about 30 secs to a minute, maybe a couple of times and retest to see if you got better.

I decided to make it a priority to do at least some of these daily as part of my self care and to preserve my sanity! I’ve also purposely picked to work from a laptop where I’m overlooking my garden to be able to look up and gaze to the distance.
